President Obama Views Arrival of Fallen U.S. Army Soldiers

President Obama Views Arrival of Fallen U.S. Army Soldiers

I ran across this article today, it hit me with so much compassion, and thought I wanted to post the article.
Watching the scene (Video) this morning of the President Of The United States standing at attention paying respect as our fallen solders passed by gave me chills. It's the first time I have ever seen anything like this. Tears of emotion and chills fell over my body as I felt sympathy and compassion for their family members and love one's. I said a prayer for all.

Regardless of your political persuasion, we are Americans first and foremost. We should all stop and take a moment today and everyday and say a prayer for our troops.

These women and men stand on the front lines putting their lives in danger for us daily. And if we are not going to pick up a gun and stand a post in a war zone, then we owe them at least a prayer a day. Thank you Mr. President for reminding us of what true devotion to our country really mean. Seeing is believing.

President Obama honors fallen Americans at Dover

Posted: Oct 28, 2009 11:10 PM PDT

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. (AP) - Standing in the pre-dawn darkness, President Barack Obama saw the real cost of the war in Afghanistan: The Americans who return in flag-covered cases while much of the nation sleeps in peace.

In a midnight dash to this Delaware base, where U.S. forces killed overseas come home, Obama honored the return of 18 fallen Americans Thursday. All were killed in Afghanistan this week, a brutal stretch that turned October into the most deadly month for U.S. troops since the war began.

The dramatic image of a president on the tarmac was a portrait not witnessed in years. Former President George W. Bush spent lots of time with grieving military families but never went to Dover to meet the remains coming off the cargo plane. Obama did so with the weight of knowing he may soon send more troops off to war.

For all the talk of his potential troop increase - maybe 40,000, maybe some other large figure - Obama got a grim reminder of the number that counts: one.

His name was Dale R. Griffin, an Army sergeant from Terre Haute, Ind. He was the last fallen soldier to come before Obama. And his remains were the only ones to be honored in full view of the media with the permission of his family. An 18-year ban on such coverage was lifted this year under Obama's watch.

The president led a team of officials onto the gray C-17 cargo plane carrying Griffin, and then back off, where they stood for several minutes in a line of honor.

It was not quite 4 a.m. The sky was black and a yellowish light came from poles flanking the flight. The only sounds were a whirring power unit on the plane and the clicking of cameras. A blue vehicle carrying members of Griffin's family pulled up.

The president saluted as six soldiers in camouflage and black berets carried Griffin's remains into a waiting white van.

The military calls the process a dignified transfer, not a ceremony, because there is nothing to celebrate. The cases are not labeled coffins, although they come off looking that way, enveloped in flags.

On a clear fall night, the president zipped to Dover in about 40 minutes. He immediately spoke privately in a chapel with all the family members.

The solemn process of transferring remains of 15 soldiers and three Drug Enforcement Agency agents unfolded in four separate movements. Obama took part in all of them. A chaplain offered prayers for the fallen, the crews that brought them home, the families who lost a loved one, and a nation embroiled in war.

By 4:45 a.m., the president had touched back down on the South Lawn, where even an active White House was sleepy.

He walked inside, alone.

A president of two inherited wars, Obama is winding down U.S. involvement in Iraq, but the troubled war in Afghanistan is only widening. It has become the dominant foreign policy change of his early presidency. The stability of Afghanistan remains in doubt while the support of the American people is waning.

At least 55 U.S. forces have been killed in October. That's the deadliest month of the war for U.S. forces since the 2001 invasion to oust the Taliban.

Obama is faced with a crucial moment: How to keep al-Qaida terrorists from taking root again in Afghanistan without sinking more American lives and money into a war that isn't working. He is in the midst of an intense review of his war strategy. Aides say he is weeks away from making an announcement.

The president apparently wanted to go to Dover now given the enormous blow to U.S. forces just this week.

On Monday, a U.S. military helicopter crashed returning from the scene of a firefight with suspected Taliban drug traffickers in western Afghanistan, killing 10 Americans including three DEA agents. In a separate crash, four more U.S. troops were killed when two helicopters collided over southern Afghanistan. On Tuesday, eight soldiers were killed when their personnel vehicles was struck by roadside bombs in Afghanistan's Kandahar province.

Obama has upped the U.S. commitment in Afghanistan to 68,000 troops and is considering sending a large addition next year, but fewer than the 40,000 troops requested by his commander there, U.S. officials tell The Associated Press. He holds his next war council meeting with the Joints Chiefs of Staff on Friday.

Bush once said that he felt the appropriate way to show his respect was to meet with family members in private.

The lifting of the ban on media coverage of bodies returning to Dover was done to keep the human cost of war from being shielded from the public.

Obama saw it directly.

Why Are The Republicans In Congress Stealing Our Money

Why are the Republicans in Congress stealing our money. Everyone in Congress, House and Senate get paid a salary for their work.

As of January 2009, the annual salary of each Representative is $174,000. The Speaker of the House and the Majority and Minority Leaders earn more, $223,500 for the Speaker and $193,400 for their party leaders (the same as Senate leaders).

http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/uscongress/a/congresspay.htm

The new CNN opinion research poll states that the Republican Favorability Rating with the public is now at 36%. An all time low.
http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/10/23/rel15i.pdf

My personal opinion is the Republicans are doing nothing. They have a pac among themselves to oppose anything that the Democrats and President Obama try to pass in Congress. They are holding up at least 17 of President Obama's nominee's to cabinet posts. The Republicans get together and come up with lies about various bills or regulations that are proposed.
They are walking in loc step with rapid radio and TV hosts talking points. At least 30 of them voted against a bill to stop contractors who work for the government, them putting a clause in their contracts where a woman who is raped can not sue them. Now that is low.

What is wrong with them? They don't have answers to any of the problems that are facing Americans today. Just say no to any and everything. That isn't helping America get back on our feet. We need a two party system, but a two party system that works together to get things done.
I state that the Republicans in Congress and the Senate are stealing from the American people because they are doing nothing to earn their money. Nothing. If they was at any other job in America they would be fired on the spot. Not wait for another election. They get paid and have excellent benefits. Better than most of their constituents. So why is no one complaining about them getting paid for not doing anything.

I remember when President Obama addressed Congress, the Republicans was waving papers at President Obama saying it was their Healthcare Plan.
Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) said he picked up a few of the papers that they was waving that night when it was over and some was left in the seats and there was nothing on them.
This is what I am talking about. The Republicans are not working on anything. No healthcare, no economy, no energy, nothing. So they should have to give their salaries and benefits back to the American people.

I think the next few elections is going to be a breakout season for the Libertarian Party. People keep speculating on Republicans and Democrats seats within the House and Senate. They need to watch the Libertarian Party which is really gaining a lot of steam. No one is watching. The excess disgruntled people of the Democratic Party and Republican Party is going someplace. And if the media and politicians keep ignoring them, they are going to look up and see a whole new party have developed and they will have to pay attention.
Which means the other two parties will be shrinking, in which they are now. There are more Independents than either party today than ever before.

http://www.lp.org/

So while the Democrats are working, and the Republicans are sitting, the new Libertarian Party is on the move.
We can't afford to pay for yet another party to sit and do nothing.

America Wake Up.

Continued... Fox Is A Non News Organization To The Whitehouse

I ran out of space... Fox Is A Non News Organization To The Whitehouse

Meaning, it's about money, and who is paying what. Fox want to keep playing the role of victim. Well it did not work during the election when they bashed President Obama, then Senator Obama, and it is not going to work this time.
I hope the Whitehouse and all Democrats stop going on that so called news network.

Anyone notice that President Obama only gave an interview to NBC Tuesday. To Samantha Guffey. I think from now on he will only do video interviews or use his weekly message or choose one news outlet to give interviews. That way it's an exclusive for that network. And the American people can get the truth of what his administration is promoting. There are many, many ways to go around the press pool, since they want to stand with Fox. Everyone watch, Fox is getting more and more upset. Fox is saying they won a battle. They have not won anything. When the other networks see they are missing out on interviews choosing to stand with Fox they will come around. Lost of money make for strange bedfellows.

Some media people are saying that Fox ratings have jumped because the public is behind them on this so called feud. Well President Obama was elected with 66,882,230 votes to McCain's 58,343,671 votes.
Many cable channels and outlets only carry Fox and CNN. They don't carry MSNBC or HLN. This is why Fox get more viewers there is no competition.

Those are McCain voters are who is watching Fox. And there is not enough of them to make a difference in an election.

President Obama's polls now according to Gallup Daily is between 53% to 57% daily. President won the election with a rating of, Obama 53% to McCain's 46% of the vote.

So no matter how hard the Fox (Comedy) news channel try to discredit this President, it's not working, the American people are on his side, and Fox is only playing to the Republican base or the looney people that want to hear that crap. Which is only polling at around 20% of the population.

So who is winning? Fox is a joke.

Fox Is A Non News Organization To The Whitehouse

You know what? A lot of this made up garbage about the Whitehouse feud with Fox is manufactured by Fox and the media.

Many Whitehouses have had a favorite news organization. My thoughts on this non story is

Roger Ailes (President of Fox ) can't stand President Obama. Because he could not beat President Obama in the election. Roger helped elect all the other Republican Presidents for years. So he just knew that he could beat Obama's team. That was not happening.

David Plouffe out foxed Fox.

So Ailes is going to try everything he can to bash or try and discredit the administration. They think they can bring down the Obama administration. I would hope that all the Democrats will stop going on Fox. Including the Whitehouse. Fox Comedy channel are liars. And if anyone from the Whitehouse go on there Fox will try to claim a victory.

Kenneth Feinberg Agency is independent of the Whitehouse totally. The Whitehouse have no say or authority what so ever over Mr Feinberg. So why all of a sudden would they try and stop an interview? This is Fox trying to make people think the Whitehouse is doing something wrong.

Fox even lied and tried to promote a story this pass week that the Whitehouse tried to keep a pool reporter out of an interview with the Treasury Department, and that the other networks stood up against the Whitehouse to make them let the reporter get the interview.

Here is the real story.

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/10/wh-were-happy-to-exclude-fox-but-didnt-yesterday-with-feinberg-interview.php?ref=fpb

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/24/fox-news-exec-on-attempte_n_332707.html

http://www.mediaite.com/online/treasury-denies-it-tried-to-exclude-fox-news-from-interviews/

First of all the Whitehouse was not doing the interviews. It was the Treasury Department. The Treasury Department staffer omitted Fox poolers name off the list and put Bloomberg News name it it's place.

The White House acknowledged a mistake on the part of a Treasury department staffer in failing to initially include Fox News in the round of interviews Feinberg conducted Thursday. But it was not their fault.

Fox wanted the sympathy vote of the public and started spreading the lie.

Politico reported that it was primarily the Treasury Department that was in charge of arranging whether or not Fox News would attend the round of interviews with "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg, as opposed to the White House.

This is how the Whitehouse pool works.

The pool is paid for by and rotates between ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox, and NBC, allowing each network to do quick interviews using the same camera crew. If the White House were to exclude one of the members, the other networks would have to provide their own crew for the interview.

Fox's claim that other Washington bureau chiefs came to the network's rescue over the alleged snub, TPMDC reports that it spoke with one of the other network bureau chiefs, who apparently was surprised to learn that Fox was describing the situation that way.

This is continued......

"If any member had been excluded it would have been same thing, it has nothing to do with Fox or the White House or the substance of the issues," the bureau chief said. "It's all for one and one for all."
Meaning, it's about money, and who is paying what. Fox want to keep playing the role of victim. Well it did not work during the election when they bashed President Obama, then Senator Obama, and it is not going to work this time.
I hope the Whitehouse and all Democrats stop going on that so called news network.

President Obama Wins The Nobel Peace Prize

I have not posted for awhile, life gets in the way sometimes. Just some thoughts.

America is back. Yes We Can, and , Yes We Will.
The rally cry have become international.

I am so proud of our President. President Obama won The Nobel Peace Prize. WOW. This gives conformation and legitimacy to his continued work for world peace and a world without nuclear weapons.
The The Nobel Foundation said the reason they gave the award to President Obama was…
The Nobel Peace Prize 2009
“for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples”

Announcement

The Norwegian Nobel Committee
The Nobel Peace Prize for 2009
The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama’s vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.
Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama’s initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.
Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.
For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world’s leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama’s appeal that “Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges.”
Oslo, October 9, 2009

Now how can the naysayers say he should not of won? If a person can read and comprehend, they can see why President Obama was awarded this extraordinary honor. I noticed he tried to play it down.
Don’t do it Mr President. Think about this. Your years working as a Community Organizer, bring people together for the good of neighborhoods and helping them to fight for their rights as human beings.
Your oratory skills are world renounced and speeches are inspirational worldwide.
Running a presidential campaign that was not negative, or nasty and beat out all of his opponents. It is called the best ran campaign of the century. Making a inclusive speech in Prague, that brought out over 200,000 people in Europe.
Everyone think back to the campaign where crowds of 100’s of thousands of people gathered to hear words of hope for American values and ideals. The millions of people who gathered in the streets across America celebrating when the President won on November 4th. The 2 million people who descended upon Washington, DC to celebrate the dawning of a new day and a new way for America.

In his inauguration speech, he declared “To the world” “We will extend a hand if you will unclench your fist.” And since then he have worked tirelessly abroad around the world attempting to make that happen for America. Many nations around the world, like America again, after 8 years of walking away from the rest of the world. Speeches around the world promoting a world without nuclear weapons. Getting the heads of nations together to sign a contract to reduce their nuclear weapons stockpile.

Yes he should be proud to accept the award. He deserves it. Our President have worked hard for years in the public sector. With little pay and less sleep. Not only that he is giving the 1.4 million dollar prize to charity. How cool is that.
